The Vilmart NV Grande Réserve represents a blend of Chardonnay with around 70% Pinot Noir. Vilmart's latest NV Brut Premier Cru Grande Réserve is showing beautifully, 'bursting with aromas of pear, wheat toast, yeast extract and confit citrus. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and complete, it's fleshy and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit, tangy acids and a pillowy mousse. While it's already showing well it will also age with grace.'
Vilmart & Cie. traces its history back to 1890, when it was founded by Désiré Vilmart, and from the beginning, Vilmart & Cie. has always been a récoltant-manipulant, making champagne exclusively from estate-owned vines. Since 1989 the estate has been in the hands of Laurent Champs, the fifth generation of the family to take the helm of the house. They are differentiated by the high percentage of Chardonnay in their vineyards. "All of the wines are fermented in oak, although you would hardly know that tasting the wines." - Antonio Galloni
