It’s impossible to talk about Tempranillo without mentioning Vega Sicilia. Founded in 1864, the estate set the benchmark for quality in the region. ‘Alión’ is crafted from meticulously selected parcels in Ribera del Duero. The 2018 vintage marked the debut of Vega Sicilia’s new state-of-the-art winery, bringing unprecedented precision to the winemaking process. Combined with a long, cool growing season, this resulted in a standout bottling. Harvested in multiple passes between September 28 and October 12, the wine was aged in 80% new oak, including 10% American. The result is robust yet refined, with notes of saddle leather, black cherry compote, and savory herbs.
