Gérard Boulay Sancerre Rosé 2023
We’ve been searching for one truly great international rosé, and when we discovered Boulay, we knew we had found our wine. The Boulay family has been farming in the lauded Chavignol village of the Loire Valley since 1380. The majority of Gérard Boulay’s vines are planted in organically farmed Kimmeridgian soil, the chalky white soil found in Chablis, offering the wines the mineral richness we love. While many producers make rosé from young vines, not yet ready to be bottled as red wines, Gérard uses 35–40-year-old Pinot Noir vines located on steep hillsides in front of his home. The incredible terroir offers complexity to the wine, along with the fresh, bright, crisp notes of a truly great rosé.

Jean & Sébastien Dauvissat ‘Les Preuses’ Grand Cru Chablis 2022
Father and son team Jean and Sébastien long worked together on these beautiful Chablis, but after Jean’s passing several years ago, Sebastién manages their 10 hectares of vineyard along with winemaking. The domaine only uses about 25% new oak to allow the natural mineral richness of the sites to shine through. The Grand Cru vineyard of Les Preuses is located on the eastern bank of the Serein River above the town of Chablis. The slope faces southeastern, offering optimal sun exposure. This bottle displays the mineral taughtness of the site, along creaminess and floraity. The palate shows notes of orchard fruit, bitter almond, and waxy flowers. This is the type of wine that makes you understand why certain sites are classified as Grand Cru.

Lucien Crochet ‘Le Chêne Marchand’ Sancerre 2022
Hands down, a top producer in the Sancerre region of France’s Loire Valley, the Crochet Estate has now produced wine for over 30 vintages. Laurence Crochet, now at the helm, made the bold decision to temporarily leave Sancerre in 1978 to pursue his oenological studies in Dijon, Burgundy, where he subsequently worked at the fameis d Domaine Dujac. Laurence brought new techniques and perspective home, where he elevated the wines to new heights. ‘Le Chêne Marchand’ is produced exclusively from high-elevation plots planted on ‘caillottes,’ or stony soil, prized in the region for offering a mineral complexity to the wines. All the Crochet holdings are organically farmed and hand harvested. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed followed by a long, cool fermentation and ageing on lees for 10 months. An impeccable food wine, ‘Le Chêne Marchand’ offers orange zest, and white flower blossom on the nose with a palate of citrus, hints of vanilla and chalky minerality.

Inama ‘Foscarino’ Soave Classico 2022
Soave—it is the wine we see on a wine list and think, “why don’t I drink more of that?” We are solving that issue by stocking up on this stellar representation from Inama. Now in its third generation, the Inama family has been producing wine in Soave Classico in Northern Italy’s Veneto since 1948. They have truly become the benchmark for these exceptional, but overlooked wines, known for roundness, freshness, and minerality. ‘Foscarino’ is a top cuvée from the producer, made from old vines of 100% Garganega grape planted in south-east facing volcanic soil parcels. After harvest, fermentation takes place in used barriques, large barrels, and steel tanks. The lees are stirred every 6 weeks for a duration of 6 months to encourage texture. The resulting wine is rich and round with notes of chamomile, marcona almond, crisp green apple and lemon pith. Enjoy on its own or with fresh white fish and light summer dishes.
