Love this Sauvignon Blanc each vintage and this 2021 is no exception. Shared Notes is brought to us by husband-and-wife team, Jeff Pisoni and Bibiana González Rave. They chose to make Sauvignon Blanc together because neither had worked on producing it for their own wineries (Cattleya and Pisoni) and they loved the idea of producing two distinctly different Sauvignon Blancs. The Les leçons des maîtres (or Lessons from the Masters) is a take on the great White Bordeauxs and after tasting it, it is an incredible effort. This 2021 is comprised of Sauvignon Blanc with Semillon and is a tribute to the legendary Bordeaux blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, with the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. “Beautifully pure notes of lemon oil, lime zest, and Ruby grapefruit set the pace, as heady aromas of white peach and crushed rock bring up the rear. This classic blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon creates a wine of two distinct parts yet harmonizes into one seamless experience. Bracing acidity cuts a razor-sharp edge though a supple, textured roundness brought on by the addition of Semillon and 100% new French oak aging.” 168 cases were produced.
