Since production was much lower in the 2020 vintage, the winery offered a few great library wines from their cellar, including this 2013 vintage. "The 2013 Screaming Eagle flagship wine is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc. As one might expect, the purity of the cassis, which is always a hallmark of this estate and wine, is well-displayed in this beauty. Dense purple in color, it offers up some floral notes intermixed with damp earth, blackcurrant jam, blackberry and hints of licorice and incense. This reminds me somewhat of the 2010 Screaming Eagle. Full-bodied, rich, but perfectly balanced, it’s another terrific example of this iconic estate. It should drink well for 30 or more years." Robert Parker, October 2015.

Screaming Eagle’s 57-acre vineyard in eastern Oakville has 40-acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a few rows of Sauvignon Blanc with Nick Gislason overseeing winemaking, Michel Rolland consulting and David Abreu farming this grand cru estate. We’ve been able to enjoy many of their vintages and the one resounding parallel to all the wines is that they need bottle age. The wines upon release are very good but with 12-15 years in bottle, they gain more complexity than any Napa Cabernet I’ve tasted before.
