Sandlands is the personal project of Tegan Passalacqua, one of California’s most respected vineyard historians and the longtime head winemaker at Turley Wine Cellars. Through Sandlands, he is dedicated to preserving California’s historic, own-rooted vineyards, particularly those planted to heritage varieties in regions like Lodi.

The 2023 Sandlands ‘Lodi’ Red is sourced from old-vine vineyards rooted in Lodi’s sandy soils, led by Carignan with complementary portions of Cinsault and other heritage varieties. The wine reflects Sandlands’ restrained, terroir-driven philosophy and commitment to authenticity. Produced with minimal intervention, the ‘Lodi’ Red exemplifies Tegan’s work to honor California’s historic vineyards and the timeless character they express.
