The H. Klopp Vineyard sits slightly Southeast of Bodega Bay’s coastline. Its loamy goldridge soil offers excellent drainage for the Chardonnay vines. Noah and head winemaker Katy Wilson opt for a diverse selection of aging vessels, including equal parts stainless steel, neutral oak, once used barrel, and new barrel. This restrained use of oak and lack of lees stirring offers an elegant expression. A marked note of orange blossom leaps from the glass and is quickly followed by almond, green apple, and saline. The mid-palate is just full enough, and the finish is refreshing and lingering.

H. Klopp is nestled in the lower Sebastopol Hills, just south of downtown. Located on the famed Goldridge Series loam that defines the Sonoma Coast, this vineyard is planted with four Chardonnay clones: Robert Young, Old Wente, Mt. Eden, and UCD4. Though the vineyard was planted in 2013 and remains relatively young, its wines have consistently impressed. The acidity at H. Klopp has a unique vibrancy, first showcased in the debut 2017 release. To this day, it remains the only vineyard in the portfolio exclusively dedicated to Chardonnay.
