With distinct volcanic ash soil, Rice-Spivak offers a distinct expression of Pinot, but is still Sonoma through and through. Rich morello cherry and blueberry are backed by eucalyptus and fresh herb, with a juicy finish and powdery tannins. The wine is classically made with 25% whole cluster and 18 moths in French oak. There’s enough complexity here to keep you going back to the glass again and again; the bottom of this bottle will be found quickly.

Planted in 1999 and owned by Russell Rice and Helene Spivak, the Rice-Spivak Vineyard holds a special connection for Reeve's winemaker, Katy Wilson, who first met Russell and Helene in 2007 while working as the Assistant Winemaker at Flowers Vineyard & Winery. They quickly bonded over their shared respect for the vineyard and a commitment to expressing its true character. The six acres of the Rice-Spivak Vineyard, located south of Sebastopol, are planted in Goldridge sandy loam soils mixed with volcanic ash, a rare combination. This unique soil profile, along with Dijon and Swan clonal selections, contributes to a wine that is balanced, with vibrant acidity, fresh aromas, and a distinct minerality.
