Crafted by winemaker Tony Biagi—also known for his work at Hourglass—the 2023 Patria ‘Charlie Smith Vineyard’ Chardonnay comes from a two-acre block in the high-elevation Moon Mountain District of Sonoma. Grown at 1,600 feet on rocky Red Hill clay loam, the site lends intensity and mineral edge. Aged 15 months in 100% French oak (40% new), the wine balances richness with precision. Just 125 cases were produced. Expect ripe pear, lemon curd, and golden apple layered with brioche, toasted hazelnut, and a streak of wet stone salinity. Focused and long, it captures both the power of its mountain terroir and Biagi’s restrained hand.
