The inaugural vintage of Vocabulum was in 2019, sourced from Ecotone Vineyard—formerly David Abreu and Ric Forman's Thorevilos Vineyard— in St. Helena, just south of the base of Howell Mountain. Impressed with their debut vintage, the Maybach team wanted to make it widely accessible, initially bottling it in 375ml formats. Now, with the 2022 vintage, they have transitioned to 750ml bottles for us to enjoy. This vintage is vibrant, fruit-driven, and generous, offering immediate appeal. While the hues suggest a medium weight, the palate reveals greater depth and structure, a contrast that becomes more pronounced with quality. As always, these wines faithfully reflect their growing season. A mere 116 cases were produced.
