Aubert, TOR, Kistler, Patz & Hall and Ramey are just a few wineries that have long turned to Larry Hyde’s vineyard for sourcing great Chardonnay. With Massican winemaker, Dan Petroski also sourcing from this famed vineyard in Napa's Carneros AVA, the result is uniquely his own- focused, vibrant and reminiscent of a Chablis-style Chardonnay, with crispness and minimal oak influence.
Located in the southern Napa Valley, the 192-acre Hyde Vineyard, established in 1979, features rolling hills, orchards, and maritime-cooled mornings. This 2023 Chardonnay comes from a Musque clone parcel planted in 1992. Dan describes its profile as "crunchy green apple, lemon cream, and sea salt." Despite aging in 100% new French oak, the wine remains mineral-driven, with only a whisper of its oak heritage.
At Massican, vintner and winemaker Dan Petroski shares his pursuit and love of unique and memorable white wines. Inspired by his roots in Italy, the Massican wines are made in Napa Valley while bringing the refreshing, bright style of Mediterranean white wines to California winemaking. In California Dan cultivates six white wine grape varieties in and around Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Four of the grape varieties trace their origins to Italy – Tocai Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Bianco and Greco. Two of the grape varieties, although no strangers to Italy, are more widely known throughout the world – Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. These are must-try Whites that will deliver freshness with complexity and pure enjoyment to the palate.
