Since their debut vintage in 2001, we’ve been supporting Macauley Watson’s efforts and really enjoying his Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons. Macauley (Mac) worked at Rudd Estate for a few years before venturing into his own wine adventure and since then, they have been producing quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Old Vine Zinfandel and Chardonnay, with Kirk Venge as their winemaker. This 2019 comes from their best-barrel blend from two iconic vineyards in the Oakville appellation. Deriving its name from the Greek word for “best”, the 2019 Macauley ‘Kalyteros’ Cabernet Sauvignon is a race horse, or in the words of Kirk, “a 1,000 HP Formula One engine running at full throttle. It takes everything it wants from the fruit to deliver a mind-blowing blast of powdered cocoa on the nose. It’s loud and brash, roast and toast, terroir-driven and a treasure chest of black cherry notes in this outstanding vintage. The finish must be sampled to be believed." 246 cases were produced.
