Helen Keplinger sources this Cabernet Franc from Oakville’s historic Detert Family Vineyard, a premier benchland site within the To Kalon footprint famous for producing some of Napa Valley's most distinctive and aromatic expressions of the varietal. The inaugural 2023 vintage of this bottling highlights the vineyard's hallmark savoriness and structural poise, opening with aromas of dark plum, wild blackberry, graphite, and violets, underlaid by subtle notes of crushed sage and dried tobacco leaf. On the palate, it is medium-to-full-bodied with fine-grained, polished tannins and fresh natural acidity framing a focused core of dark fruit and stony minerality. A subtle touch of cocoa and forest floor lingers through a long, elegant finish, making this a refined Cabernet Franc built for immediate enjoyment or a decade of cellar evolution. Just 200 cases were produced.
What began as a brand showcasing Helen Keplinger’s passion for varietals inspired by her experiences in Priorat, Spain, and travels through the Rhône Valley has evolved into a highly sought-after boutique winery. Together with her husband and winery partner, DJ Warner, Helen has built Keplinger Wines into a celebrated label known not only for its exceptional reds but also for Chardonnay.
