We've been a longtime fan of this juicy, palate-coating Red. It’s a blend of just about every varietal in their vineyard. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot with a little Petite Sirah, Merlot, and a few ‘miscellaneous others’ as they like to say. Together, it’s inky, glass-staining purple color is followed by a beautiful bouquet of smoked black fruits, bouquet garni, peppered meat, and hints of crushed rock. It's rich, medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and just a gorgeous wine.
Based in Ballard Canyon AVA in Santa Barbara county, Jonata specializes in Bordeaux and Rhône varieties that thrive in the region’s warm days and cool nights. The estate is farmed sustainably using polyface farming, integrating livestock to naturally enrich the land alongside gardens, bees, and olive trees. With a background in soil science, winemaker Matt Dees believes great wine begins in the vineyard.
