Last November I asked KK Carothers, winemaker of Bryant Estate about her favorite wines to drink. This bottle was top of the list. Thus, I spent the next 6+ months trying to access some... and finally, just in time for the warm days of summer, voilà. When I reached out to ask her if she had anything to say about the wine, she responded, “I’m going to put a bottle in the fridge right now,” which just about sums it up.

Winemaker Emmanuel Lassaigne, son of Jacques, is making wines nothing short of transcendent. The terroir of his 4.7 hectares is similar to that of Grand Cru Le Mesnil with loads of chalk for intense mineral verve. Emmanuel works with mature vines for maximum complexity, encourages biodiversity in the vineyards, and ages in oak for 12-24 months for a subtle hint of texture, while retaining the racy classic Blanc de Blancs profile. Reinforcing his utter meticulousness, Emmanuel disgorges every bottle by hand. This wine will certainly not last! - JR
