This 2019 is the debut vintage of Engelhard Vineyard from the western hills of Calistoga. It is perhaps this vineyard that began the relationship between Louis Ciminelli and winemaker Nigel Kinsman. Previously owned by the Engelhards, the 4-acre vineyard for decades was the secret source to a select few blue chip winemakers, including Bob Levy for Harlan and the Napa Valley Reserve, Thomas Rivers Brown for Hobel and to Nigel Kinsman. When Louis bought the vineyard, he entrusted David Abreu to take on the role as viticulturist of the property and bring the property to the next level of even higher quality. Rich and powerful, it is “an absolute beauty. The 2019 Red boasts all the energy, expression, and power this site has become known for and captures the essence of one of Napa Valley's most under the radar vineyards,” explains Nigel. This wine is deserving of a good decant if you’re going to open this anytime soon. 222 cases were produced.
