Kelli White and Scott Brenner, former sommeliers for Press Restaurant, have embarked on new wine projects, since knowing them when they first moved to Napa Vally to begin working at our sister company, Press. Kelli has written a book titled "Napa Valley Then & Now" and together they have launched their own wine label, Houndstooth Wines, starting with the 2011 harvest season. Scott, mentored by the renowned John Kongsgaard of Kongsgaard Winery, is now the winemaker. Their 2018 Barbera is sourced from Rorick Heritage Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills, owned by Matthew Rorick. According to Kelli, this red wine offers vibrant red fruit, hints of baking spices, and a refreshing acidity that is immediately noticeable upon opening. It pairs exceptionally well with tomato-based sauces like pizza and pasta, making it a delightful and versatile food wine. With only 100 cases produced, it is a limited and special offering.
