The Hirsch Vineyard, perched on a ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Fort Ross, is nothing short of magical, with its rolling hills and foggy mornings. The vineyard was planted by David Hirsch, a pioneer of making site-specific wines at the far West boundary of Sonoma. Jasmine Hirsch, David’s daughter, now oversees operations and winemaking. A relatively perfect expression of coastal Chardonnay, the wine opens with notes of lemon curd and toasted almond and leads to a palate that is silky and texture with incredible verve. With only 4 acres planted, the Chardonnay is extremely limited.
