We love a great surprise when tasting wine. And this is one of those times when we were blown away by this new wine brand and every one of the offerings, they shared with us. Grape Culture Blanc was created with the intention of showcasing the potential Sauvignon Blanc has in the Napa Valley. After a few years producing Sauvignon Blanc in several styles, their approach was to utilize different fermentation vessels and protocols and ultimately blend each lot back together to create complexity. This 2021 Sauvignon Blanc comes from Wolf Family Vineyard, a 6-acre vineyard which is located on the Southern edge of St. Helena’s valley floor, almost exactly in the middle of the Mayacamas to the west and the Vaca range to the east, at one of the Valley’s most narrow points. This results in a combination of alluvial and gravelly soils, all extremely well-draining. On the property you can find Pleasanton and Yolo Series Gravelly Loams, Hillgate, Cortina and San Ysidro. Comprised entirely of the Musque clone, this debut vintage shows a rounder, more luxurious style than its clone 1 counterpart. It immediately opens with aromas of high tuned citrus and tropical fruit notes. On the palate, the tropical fruit becomes the focus with Meyer lemon custard undertones. The mouthfeel is vibrant with curves in all the right places. 100 cases were produced.
