This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from several small, family-owned vineyards, some dating back 80+ years and 3-4 generations. The dry conditions with moderate temperatures of 2021 produced tiny berries with incredible complexity and concentration. Yields were low, but in this case, certainly, quantity was sacrificed for quality. After the long, even harvest, the wines aged for 34 months in ultra-tight woodgrain barrels. A distinct fig, blueberry, and vanilla quality on the nose leads to a palate that remarkably combines grace and concentration.
Fortunate Son, the sister label to Hundred Acre, carries the same energy and allure consistently guaranteed by winemaker Jason Woodbridge. Inspired by historic family-owned vineyard sites in the Napa Valley, each cuvée undergoes the same hallmark extended oak aging and meticulous care but offers a distinct character.
