The grower-producer Egly-Ouriet, based in the Montagne de Reims, has long made us swoon. Practicing organic with majority Premier and Grand Cru holdings, the family produces exceptional styles across their range. 1/3 Pinot Noir, 1/3 Chardonnay, and 1/3 Pinot Meunier from 40-year-old vines, ‘Les Prémices’ arguably displays the most distinct character with its nutty, toasty nose, a palate of pink lady apple and raspberries and cream, and a long dry finish. While dreamy on its own, this is the type of Champagne that holds up beautifully to richer food, as well, and will pair through your dinner.
