This vintage marks the debut release of Malbec as a single varietal bottling from Rudd’s Oakville estate vineyard. As winemaker Natalie Bath explains, “The 2021 vintage was ideal for demonstrating what Malbec has to offer. This wine presents inviting aromas of sweet blueberries and fresh black cherries, accompanied by delicate hints of vanilla baking spices. On the palate, it delights with flavors of macerated fresh fruits, with ruby red plum taking center stage, bringing a luscious sweetness and a slightly tart pop as the wine progresses across the tongue.” Natalie co-fermented the Malbec with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon to round out the palate. Crossroads is estate grown, coming from the same vineyards, and crafted by the same winemaking team as Rudd Estate, making it a reflection of the place and the people of Rudd Estate. These wines can be enjoyed upon release with a good decant or by popping the cork a few hours in advance. Like with the Rudd estate offerings, Crossroads red wines will only benefit with a few years in the cellar.
