With 48 acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, Rudd Oakville Estate is an ideal location for crafting exceptional wines. The vineyards benefit from rocky volcanic soils that promote excellent drainage and encourage deep root systems to explore the underlying terroir. Winemaker Natalie Bath has a deep appreciation for this Cabernet Franc, which is the second vintage of the Crossroads label dedicated to this highly aromatic varietal. The wine exhibits enticing notes of dark red cherries and black currant, accompanied by hints of spice and juicy plum. After aging the wine for 20 months in terracotta amphora, Natalie blended it with other Cabernet Franc lots to achieve a more rounded finish that complements the brightness of the fruit profile.
Crossroads is estate grown, coming from the same vineyards, and crafted by the same winemaking team as Rudd Estate, making it a reflection of the place and the people of Rudd Estate. Despite the pedigree of an Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and Mt. Veeder Sauvignon Blanc, Crossroads is priced accessibly and is meant to be enjoyed upon release.
