After leading his family’s construction business in Canada, founder Cliff Lede fell in love with the Napa Valley in the 1990s. This passion led him to the acquisition of a stunning 60-acre property that would become home to the winery. Today, Jason, Cliff’s son, serves as GM, ushering their family business into the future. The Oakville Cabernet comes from a stony vineyard on the southeast border of Oakville. This rocky soil restricts vigor, allowing tiny berries to form for immense concentration. The juice this vintage saw an extended maceration followed by aging in French oak barrels, 68% of which were new, for 21 months.
"The east side of Oakville is unmatched for producing seductive, cassis-laden wines of density and richness, so it only follows that our 2021 should flaunt these characteristics. Layers of blackberry, jammy blackcurrants, and warm summer mulberries flavors will delight the taster. Accents of cumin and smoked paprika intertwine with red and black licorice notes. There are gobs of sweet, creamy tannins that lead to a long finish with focus." - Christopher Tynan, Director of Winemaking
