Made from estate fruit, this is a Cabernet Sauvignon that winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown made so you could enjoy it at a younger age, as the Casa Piena Estate Cabernets tend to need more time in bottle upon release before showing their potential. Like the estate Cabernet, ‘Our Gang’ comes from Carmen Policy’s 14-acre vineyard in Yountville, where Stags Leap District, Oakville and Yountville converge. The vineyard was planted by Jim Barbour and continues to be farmed under his guidance today. "With a dense purple hue that runs to the rim of the glass and soaring aromatics of graphite, clove, nutmeg, raspberries and graphite, this wine immediately shows the seriousness of the 2018 vintage. The palate follows suit with rich notes of licorice, wet stones, cocoa nib, mint, and blueberry. The finish is drawn out by a lingering acidity that provides freshness and brightness for up to a minute." — Thomas Rivers Brown, winemaker.
This is the philosophy that inspires Casa Piena, which translated from Italian literally means FULL HOUSE. The five major blocks of Policy Vineyard are named after each of Carmen’s three sons and two daughters (thus, three of a kind and a pair). As Carment explains, “This marvelous combination now includes eight grandchildren which truly does create a HOUSE that is FULL.”
