The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is the third vintage from the Phillips family’s Vine Hill Ranch (VHR), a 70-acre vineyard spanning western Oakville’s valley floor to the Mayacamas hills, with a mix of soil and sun exposure. Founded in 1959 by Bruce’s father, Bob Phillips, VHR primarily sells fruit to long-standing winery clients, but since 2008, the Phillips family has held back some to produce their own estate Cabernet. With a talented team including winemaker Francoise Peschon, Isabelle Straka, and vineyard manager Mike Wolf, this wine showcases a deep ruby/plum color and aromas of dark currants, herbs, cedar, and chocolate. It offers medium to full-bodied richness, a structured mouthfeel, and building tannins, finishing with balance. With a decant, you'll be even more impressed with this new release.
