The inaugural release speaks of elegance and concentration with rich boysenberry, cardamom, and fine tannins. The bottling is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from Beckstoffer Las Piedras, Vine Hill Ranch, and 1520 vineyard—perched in Diamond Mountain with vines dating back to 1989 and is now overseen by Shae and Nigel Kinsman. 525 cases were produced.
Annulus Cellars is the brainchild of Luke Evnin and Deann Wright, both research scientists by trade and part of the Napa Valley community for more than 20 years, along with their two daugters. When they decided to launch the project, they approached the talented Nigel Kinsman of Kinsman-Eades, Accendo, and Bella Oaks, as well as Michel Rolland to masterfully helm the blending process. With a long history in the valley, Deann and Luke knew the land well enough to set their sights on top vineyards, including Vine Hill Ranch and Beckstoffer Las Piedras. “Annulus,” Latin for “ring,” is a reference to the cycle of the seasons and the rings of community we create around food, wine, and agriculture.
