Shannon O'Shaughnessy, hailing from a renowned wine family, played a pivotal role in the establishment of O'Shaughnessy on Howell Mountain in 1997. Currently, she is devoting her attention to her own winery, Aileron. In 2014, Shannon acquired Aileron's estate Sauvignon Blanc Vineyard in Coombsville, located in front of her residence. Five years later, in 2019, she made the notable purchase of the esteemed Altimeter Vineyard on Atlas Peak, exclusively dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon. These two combined estates serve as the core of Aileron. Crafted by the esteemed winemaker Philippe Melka, renowned for his expertise in Sauvignon Blancs in Napa Valley, the 2021 vintage captivates with its initial aromas of citrus, orange blossom, and white jasmine. On the palate, the wine delivers a harmonious balance of weight, texture, and vibrant acidity, complemented by mineral undertones and the presence of lemon zest, passion fruit, and tropical nuances. The wine's extended, luscious finish is further enhanced by the influence of barrel aging, which imparts an additional layer of spice and tension. A total of 170 cases were produced.
