While this is a newer single vineyard bottling for David Abreu, this vineyard site has been around since the late 1800’s. Today, it encompasses six acres dedicated to vine. 2006 was the first vintage of Cappella and since then, it has continually been considered one of the most expressive, top Cabernets. Like many of the great Bordeaux houses, Brad is a believer in co-fermenting lots as they come in from the vineyard. “This first small tank always provides the signature thread of gravely tannin to the wine. Flavors progressed quickly in the Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot in 2019. Typically picked at the end of harvest, the bulk of these two varieties was picked on October 3 along with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. This unique co-fermentation added vibrancy and structure that elevates the tone of the blend.”
