Steve Beresini’s old vine Chardonnay vineyard was introduced to TOR in 2008 by Larry Hyde, one of vintner Tor Kenward's oldest friends in Napa Valley. The Beresini Vineyard is in the very south section of Carneros Napa, which is heavily influenced by fog. It was planted three decades ago with cuttings that Larry gave Steve. They call it the Hyde Selection Wente clone. Today it produces a minuscule crop, usually between one to two tons per acre, with clusters half the normal size. TOR takes all the fruit, working closely with Steve on every aspect of the farming in his Chardonnay garden. The wines have earned a “cult” following at TOR, each year producing wine known for its complexity and extraordinary layers of flavor. The 2018 once again tastes like nothing else with its crushed oyster shell, sea foam and toasted brioche bread. The palate displays bees wax, lanolin, focused acidity that provide a frame to the fruit as it tails off to show lingering blooming honeysuckle. 180 cases were produced.
