This is one of the best Whites coming out of Napa Valley today and is reminiscant of some of the great white Bordeauxs. At 1600 feet in elevation, it is an anomaly to find Sauvignon Blanc grown on such exceptional Mt. Veeder soil. Yet when vintner Leslie Rudd was first figuring out what to plant on this newly acquired land, he reached out to Didier Dagueneau, long considered one of the best Sauvignon Blanc producers in the world to ask him to visit the property. Immediately upon his visit, Didier told Leslie that the soil reminded him of his own in France's Loire Valley and with careful farming, he could produce exceptional Sauvignon Blanc and that is exactly what Leslie did despite knowing that he would never get the value of his land from farming a White instead of a Napa Valley Red. The 2019 was aged for nine months, sur lie, in 54% used oak, 28% concrete and 18% amphora. "It prances out of the glass with bold, flamboyant scents of honey-drizzled pears, white peaches and green mango plus hints of beeswax, coriander seed and pineapple. The medium to full-bodied palate has a gorgeous silkiness to the texture, exploding with citrus and tropical fruit flavors, finishing on a lingering mineral note. Although tantalizingly irresistible now, I suggest laying a few bottles away for 3-5 years to really get that WOW experience." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. 344 cases were produced.
