This newest vintage release coming from Rudd Estate’s 55-acre estate vineyard in the eastern side of Oakville is comprised of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Cabernet Franc. Harvest began early for Rudd on September 3rd and lasted 24 days with the vineyard team culling the vineyard in 7 different pick days. “It leaps from the glass with gregarious notions of baked plums, crème de cassis and blueberry pie plus hints of sandalwood, menthol, cinnamon stick and cedar chest with a waft of dried lavender. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is filled with juicy black and blue fruit layers, framed by a suggestion of soft tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and spicy.” "Still somewhat under the radar among the great estates in Northern California is Rudd Estate, right at the Oakville crossroads, sitting across the street from Plumpjack, Dalla Valle, Screaming Eagle, Tench - clearly the tenderloin of Napa Valley. The estate director is Oscar Henquet, who is quietly building on what is already a high bar of quality by focusing on obtaining more elegance without compromising the concentration and character of the estate's wines." - Robert Parker. 343 cases were produced.
