This is one of the best Chardonnays coming out of California today and with 70 cases produced for this newest vintage of 2018, we will sell out of this before their next vintage release. We’ve been offering their ‘Pont Marie’ Chardonnay the past few months and that too comes from Lancel Creek Vineyard, which is only five miles from the Pacific Ocean, and is also comprised solely of the Montrachet clone. But it’s the soil type from which they are sourced from in the vineyard that make the subtle difference. This Chardonnay’s soil has more clay. “Le Pont Neuf is more power packed from front to back with a great combination of mineral structure and ginger cookie accents. We have had tasters who ‘don't drink chardonnay’ flip over Le Pont Neuf as if they just discovered what they had been missing,” explains vintner, Mary Danielak. The 2018 offers "seductive aromas of honeycomb, crystallized lemon peel, and Freesia are accompanied by a pliant and luxurious mouthfeel. A fine thread of minerality runs through this wine, giving structure and making it fit to age for at least a decade."
