This Cuvée is an incredible opportunity to experience one of Napa Valley’s premier growing region- Oakville AVA. Oakville Winegrowers is the association that began in 1996 and today boasts more than 70 growers and wineries from this hailed AVA. 100 magnum bottles were produced of this special Cuvée and is a blend of select lots of Oakville’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon and blending varieties contributed by all the Oakville Winegrowers members, which include BOND, Dalla Valle, Detert, Futo, Harlan, Harbison, Opus One, Peter Michael, Rudd, Screaming Eagle and VHR-Vine Hill Ranch. The 2016 Cuvée offers complex layered aromas of deep red fruit, dark chocolate with savory secondary notes that lead onto the palate with precise tannin and structure. It has a rich dark berry mid-palate, and an enduring finish that is both rich and bright with just a touch of barrel sweetness. This is the only wine that truly represents all of Oakville as they receive contributions from producers that span the AVA - from the western Mayacamas hills and the alluvial fans below, to the rich deep soil vineyards of the valley floor, and up to 1,000 foot elevation in the red rocky soils of the eastern Vaca Mountains. We tasted this last week and highly suggest you letting this rest in your cellar for another 1-2 years before opening. While it is beginning to show its potential, it is really meant to be aged. Just think about some of the best Oakville Cabs you’ve had in the past – they truly benefited with time in the bottle. This wine is only produced in 1.5L and 3L formats.
