Celia Welch continues to be one of the best winemakers today and her own wine, Corra is a testament to her signature style of winemaking. Balance, power, and finesse are three words that immediately come to mind when describing Corra. Since the 2004 vintage, Celia has been producing Corra from highly regarded grower vineyards in Rutherford, Oakville and Pritchard Hill. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon comes from predominately Pritchard and Rutherford, with about 8% of the Cabernet from Oakville. “Deep garnet-purple in color, it jumps from the glass with exuberant scents of blackcurrant preserves, blackberry pie and blueberry compote plus compelling wafts of menthol, fragrant earth and red roses in the background with suggestions of cedar, pencil lead and truffles coming through with further swirling. Wow—the palate is big, rich and concentrated, delivering a rock-solid backbone of firm, super ripe tannins and tons of freshness supporting all those decadent black berry layers, finishing long with lots of mineral and floral sparks.” 97 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. 300 cases were produced.
