This special bottled Beckstoffer ToKalon single vineyard Cabernet from Carter comes the original block of Beckstoffer ToKalon grapes planted to clone 337. With its extended hang time, 2018 was a very good year for the ‘O.G.’ block of Beckstoffer ToKalon. “On the nose, this wine reveals gorgeous notes of blackberry liqueur, complex floral and mineral undertones all matched with an inky deep purple color. Sweet tannins integrate with a plush, persistent, and prodigious palate making this a complex wine which expertly showcases Napa Valley terroir. As with prior vintages of this wine, the structure and power of the clone 337 from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard lends itself well to an extended decant or several years of bottle age to really spread its wings.”

These older clone 4 vines offer Carter their most upfront, and instantly appealing wine from this famed vineyard. “Dark blackberry fruits, earthy spice, and rich cool soil intertwine to create a lavish multi-layered wine, that then leads to an enormous mid-palate buttressed perfectly by the wine’s natural acidity and gripping tannins. Offering a unique amount of ripeness and texture, this is an elegant wine wrapped up in a cloak of raw but refined power. As in years past this single vineyard Beckstoffer ToKalon wine is a successful expression of both the richness and power of clone 7 – a stalwart in Napa Valley for decades. With its fruit forward profile, the wine opens immediately with floral aromatics mixed with dark currants, spices and blue/black fruit. This wines mid-palate shines, loaded with racy yet rounded firm tannins and waves of decadent fruit. Like all Carter Cellars wines, this wine is approachable immediately, but give this beautiful wine a few years in the cellar to round out and you’ll be rewarded by additional nuances for years to come.
