While many know of Jim Barbour as one of the best viticulturists in Napa Valley, it was his own wine that connected us when I first moved to wine country. While Jim has planted and managed many prominent vineyards in the valley, including Hundred Acre, Grace Family, Checkerboard, Blankiet, Revana, Harbison, Keever, DR Stephens and many more, his estate vineyard on the western side of St. Helena is just as incredible as his farming efforts. Produced by winemaker Celia Welch, this new release is gorgeous, like in past vintages. Harvested by hand on September 11, this 100% Cabernet “is fully ripe, displaying purple and blue tones and deeper notes of mocha, black tea and graphite. Its full mouthfeel offers tannins that are present, yet approachable and the wine finishes with dark fruits dominating the mid and upper palate.”
