The team of winemaker Francoise Peschon and vineyard manager Mike Wolf, bring together a multitude of years of experience working with the Vine Hill Ranch vineyard, and this experience, along with the site and the age of the vines, contributed to crafting this delicious and distinctive Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon from 2017. Francoise sources from a selection of the eighteen sub-blocks situated across the seventy-acre estate vineyard. Each year, the VHR Cabernet Sauvignon is compiled on an annual basis with the objective of showcasing the varied nature of this remarkable vineyard site through a wine of complexity and depth, uniquely expressive of the site’s ability to produce Cabernet Sauvignon wines of singular expression. The 2017 VHR Cabernet Sauvignon offers beautiful floral aromas of violet and lavender, ripe blackberry, and dark chocolate, along with hints of cedar and tobacco. Gorgeous black
cherry, currant, and cocoa powder notes are framed by structured, opulent, yet elegant expressions of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety nascent to the individual vineyard blocks contributing to the vintage. The wine’s finish is lengthy and powerful with a complexity and balance that have become signatures of the vineyard.
Bob and Alex Phillips began cultivating fine winegrapes here in 1959 and, with the founding of Phillips Family Farming, Vine Hill Ranch continues to produce exceptional fruit for a collection of premier Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon vintners. Under the watchful eye and incredible talent of winemaker Francoise Peschon, VHR began producing its own wine in the 2008 vintage.
