Because of Benoit Touquette's ability to source from multiple, high-quality vineyard sites throughout Napa Valley including Andy Beckstoffer's ToKalon Vineyard, Las Piedras Vineyard and Dr. Crane Vineyard, Benoit has great access to high-quality fruit throughout Napa Valley. He has also become great at the art of final blending thanks to his regular time spent with his mentor, Michel Rolland. Like in past vintages, this 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied and juicy. As Benoit says, "Our 2017 vintage is creamy, juicy and makes us salivate. Raspberry notes hit you first, then we fall into a crème de cassis intermixed with chocolate and baking spices. A refreshing acidity, intense silkiness and velvety texture define the palate. Subtler notes of thyme, violet and lavender keep you on your toes."
Benoit Touquette grew up one of Burgundy's main cities, Lyon, before moving to Bordeaux to attend graduate school. He worked the mobile bottling lines to pay for schooling and it was while doing this that he got to see and feel the infectious passion of the winemakers he met. He quickly switched his focus to oenology and completed two degrees before moving to Napa Valley to intern with renowned winemaker Andy Erickson (formerly of Screaming Eagle, Staglin and now Dalla Valle, Favia and Marciano) before venturing on his own to become winemaker at Realm Cellars and begin his own wine brand, Fait Main and Teeter Totter. Benoit's style of wines that he produces are opulent and bold, with a focus geared towards showing each vineyard's potential.
