In English, ‘Les pierres qui décident’ translates into ‘the rocks that decide’ and is the perfect way to describe this mineral-driven, Loire-style Sauvignon Blanc (think Didier Dagueneau’s great Whites). The 2016 Les pierres qui décident starts with elegant, yet intense notes of key lime, flint and wet stone. A crisp and dry mouthfeel seamlessly transitions into a satisfying grandiose finish which is accentuated by a few short hours of skin contact before going to press. Aging in larger-format puncheon barrels allows the Sauvignon Blanc to retain its vibrancy. Interestingly, this 2016 is comprised entirely of the Sauvignon Musque clone of Sauvignon Blanc which gives it that extra body and complexity. This 2016 balanced White leaves one longing for another sip. This exciting new Sauvignon Blanc project is brought to us by husband and wife team Jeff Pisoni (of Pisoni Vineyards) and Bibiana Pisoni (of Wayfarer and Pahlmeyer). They chose to make Sauvignon Blanc together because neither have worked on producing it for their own wineries the represent and they loved the idea of bringing to the table two distinctly different SBs. This one was our favorite. 98 cases were produced.
