This 2021 is considered a phenomenal vintage like the 2018, 2016, and 2015, this newest 2021 offering is a smaller yield and more aligned with the 2015 vintage in that respect. For this vintage, winemaker Nick Gislason harvested the Cabernet in mid-October. “Tasted from barrel, the 2021 Screaming Eagle dazzles from start to finish. Dark, savory, and explosive, the 2021 deftly marries power and finesse like few vintages I can remember tasting. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, grilled herbs, leather, and a kick of spice all build in this wonderfully vibrant, layered Screaming Eagle. There's plenty of tannin, but it is elegantly built into the wine's fabric.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous.

Screaming Eagle’s 57-acre vineyard in eastern Oakville has 40-acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a few rows of Sauvignon Blanc with Nick Gislason overseeing winemaking, Michel Rolland consulting and David Abreu farming this grand cru estate. We’ve been able to enjoy many of their vintages and the one resounding parallel to all the wines is that they need time in bottle to age. The wines upon release are very good but with 12-15 years in bottle, they gain more complexity than any Napa Cabernet I’ve tasted before. I recently enjoyed a 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon with Nick at a dinner with friends, and it was phenomenal- one of the best wines of the evening in a serious lineup of wines.
