Winemaker Nick Gislason has taken The Flight to a new level, beginning in the 2018 vintage and now with this newest release. That is because more of their newer plantings have matured and are now being incorporated into this Cabernet/Merlot dominant Red. In the glass, it is “dark, powerful and broading in demeanor, almost shockingly so.  The natural concentration of a year with low yields and small berries is very in evidence. A rush of black cherry, plum, graphite, lavender, and blue/purplish fruit builds as this virile, explosive wine shows off its arresting beauty.  In one word, impressive.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous.

 Screaming Eagle’s 57-acre vineyard in eastern Oakville has 40-acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a few rows of Sauvignon Blanc with Nick Gislason overseeing winemaking, Michel Rolland consulting and David Abreu farming this grand cru estate. We’ve been able to enjoy many of their vintages and the one resounding parallel to all the wines is that they need bottle age. The wines upon release are very good but with 12-15 years in bottle, they gain more complexity than any Napa Cabernet I’ve tasted before. Orders will be ready for shipment after November 3rd.
