With just 10 hectares of vineyards, Pinot Meunier is the star varietal at this Champagne house. While often overshadowed by the more common Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, when done right, offers a lush, racy character with distinct red fruit notes. We first tasted this Champagne about three years ago as it was making its debut in the US, and we’ve been thinking about its captivating flavor ever since. The Champagne Salmon 100% Meunier Brut NV is a pure expression of Pinot Meunier from the Marne Valley. It opens with vibrant aromas of ripe stone fruit, apricot, and peach, accented by floral and brioche notes. The palate is full-bodied yet fresh, with flavors of orchard fruit, citrus zest, and toasted almonds. Its fine bubbles and balanced acidity lead to a crisp, mineral finish.
Champagne Salmon Brut NV hails from the village of Chaumuzy in the Marne Valley, where the Salmon family has been producing Champagne for three generations. Known for their meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality, they focus on highlighting the unique terroir of their estate vineyards.
