This newest release from Rudd comes from their 55-acre estate vineyard in Oakville’s tenderloin on the east side of Napa Valley. Their vineyards are farmed organically by their in-house vineyard management team (David Abreu originally planted and managed the vineyard). During certain months sheep can roam through parts of the vineyard, grazing the cover crop. Already showing well upon release, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon structure offers velvety tannins with aromatics of briary fruit, dark cherry and a texture that has a lively, mineral energy with natural acidity and secondary notes of baked spice. An elegant vintage, this will continue to evolve in the bottle with 8-10 more years of age. During harvest, the Rudd team began picking on September 3rd with 11 separate picks and aged the wine in 100% French oak, 63% new. 649 cases were produced.
