Winemaker Vanessa Wong's resume is nothing short of incredibly impressive. Prior to Peay, she worked at Peter Michael Winery as winemaker and assistant winemaker from 1996-2000. She also has spent time working in France at Château Lafite-Rothschild in Pauillac and Domaine Jean Gros in Vosne-Romanée as well as in California at Hirsch Winery. Having just tasted this yesterday, this new release from Peay is still fresh on my mind. Notes of dark red fruit fill the glass with complex layers of dark cherry and spice box. More masculine than their other Estate Pinot Noir, Scallop Shelf, it is juicy yet refined and a notable example of what 2015 gave to the coast - a great vintage for coastal Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. 350 cases were produced.
