This 2017 Zinfandel is comprised of 100% Zinfandel and was aged for 16 months in French oak, 34% new. Medium garnet-purple colored, it gives up flamboyant cherry pie, raspberry preserves, and blueberry compote notes with touches of Chinese five spice, dusty soil, dried flowers and underbrush. Full-bodied, relatively taut, and chewy, it sports bold freshness on the palate, laden with spicy red and blue fruit preserves, finishing long and perfumed. Outpost was established in 1998 with the vision of producing wines that embodied the unique Howell Mountain AVA. Truly one of the world’s great Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel growing regions, the unique terroir of the Outpost vineyards – the hard, rocky red soil, high altitude, gentle cooling breezes and sunny western exposure – produces fruit of incredible intensity and richness. All of Outpost's offerings are 100% varietal bottlings and farmed and produced from their 28-acre estate vineyard. Thomas Rivers Brown has crafted the wines from the beginning.
