Two barrels were produced of this outstanding single vineyard 2018 Pinot Noir. Becky George is hitting her stride crafting elevated Pinot Noir and from her previous work experiences at the venerable Marcassin and Williams Selyem wineries, it's no wonder that she has taken her applied knowledge to an even higher level with her own endeavor, Mojave Wines. Her daytime job is as winemaker at Kelly Fleming and Mojave is her smaller yet mighty side project. 2016 was her first vintage and we have been appreciating & enjoying each vintage she releases. This 2018 Pinot Noir comes from Monument Tree Vineyard and "offers intense perfumes of dried red cherry, cinnamon spice and roasted hazelnut. The palate has a rich, coating entry with loads of fruit forward appeal. Blackberry, raspberry compote and vanilla bean notes interplay with floral undertones. The lush palate is tempered by a vibrant acidity and a touch of tannic grip that elongates the aromatic finish." Named ‘Winemaker of the Year’ in 2019 by Antonio Galloni of Vinous, this newest offering is proof that this honor is well-deserved.
