We have been fortunate that Sean Larkin lives right up the street from our tasting room. Sean recently stopped by so we could taste the 2016 Chardonnay and we were overwhelmingly delighted by it. This is the third vintage for the Jack Larkin Chardonnay sourced exclusively from the Fig Tree Vineyard at the base of Howell Mountain in the St. Helena AVA, a pristine vineyard site incredibly well suited to big, rich, full-throttle Napa Valley Chard. Barrel fermented in a combination of 50% new French oak and 50% Neutral oak, this wine is kept on the lees and stirred twice monthly right up until bottling. Fifty percent of the wine went through malolactic fermentation, resulting in an opulent Chardonnay with great mouthfeel, coupled with a spine of requisite acid to keep it in balance. 100 cases were produced.
