Clayton describes how his winemaking process allows this wine to check all the Chardonnay boxes on the checklist. “Due to fermenting and aging in neutral oak barrels, this wine is able to walk a fine line between the oaky and stainless camps that so many other Chardonnays reside in. Retaining its fruity, crisp esters of pears and melon, this wine is refreshing while also refined and rounded from extensive aging and full malolactic fermentation.” Clayton aged this estate Clarksburg Chardonnay for 21 months in neutral French oak with no fining nor filtration, resulting in a silky, inviting and VERY drinkable Chardonnay. Clayton is also the winemaker at the famed Chardonnay house, Hudson Vineyards. 139 cases were produced.
