The 2017 Lithic is a blend of 42% Grenache, 28% Mourvedre, and 25% Syrah and comes from Ann Kraemer’s incredible Shake Ridge Vineyard, situated at 1700’ in the Sierra Foothills of Amador County. Farmed to perfection, the extraordinary Sierra uplift soils, loaded with quartz, basalt, soapstone, and shale always combine to create wines of great purity, richness, and minerality. The Mourvedre, Grenache, and Syrah blocks are all on rock-filled slopes with excellent exposure and drainage. “The aromatics are stunning, with notes of blueberries, graphite, violets, strawberry preserves, indian spice, quartz dust, and faint citrus notes. The palate is also an absolute beauty – with blue and red fruit, garrigue, flowers, incredibly silky, weighted, textured, and long. This is my favorite Lithic upon release." 245 cases produced.
